Installation

1. 1Connect the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the same local network as the PZP HP 3 BW heat pump controller via Ethernet.
2. 2Ensure Modbus TCP is enabled on the PZP heat pump controller and note the IP address and port number configured on the device.
3. 3In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device and select the PZP HP 3 BW template from the template library.
4. 4Enter the heat pump IP address and Modbus TCP port in the gateway configuration, then verify communication by checking live register values.
5. 5Review dual-purpose registers at addresses 60001, 60100, 60400, and 60401 to confirm correct read and write behavior for your installation.

Things to watch for

Why do some registers appear in both the read and write lists?

Registers at addresses 60001, 60100, 60400, and 60401 serve as both status readback and setpoint controls. This is by design in the PZP controller. Verify the data type (int32 vs uint16) for each register to avoid misinterpretation.

Can the outside temperature show negative values?

Yes. The outside temperature register at address 114 uses int16, which supports negative values. Make sure your gateway configuration does not treat this register as unsigned.

What network setup is required for Modbus TCP communication?

The ModbusCloud gateway and the PZP HP 3 BW controller must be on the same local network or reachable via proper routing. Use a wired Ethernet connection for reliability. No RS-485 wiring or protocol converter is needed.

How do I avoid register conflicts at address 60001?

Register W100-60001 uses int32 and spans two registers, while manual control activation at the same address uses uint16. Confirm which function you need and configure the correct data type in the template settings.
