Installation

1. 1Connect the Kostad Unity 50-120 to the same IP network as your ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) and note the station IP address.
2. 2Ensure Modbus TCP is enabled on the Kostad Unity 50-120 and confirm the configured Modbus unit ID.
3. 3Import the Kostad Unity 50-120 template from the ModbusCloud template library into your project.
4. 4Enter the IP address and unit ID of the charging station in the gateway configuration.
5. 5Configure the communication timeout register at address 201 to a suitable value to prevent unintended fallback on communication loss.
6. 6Verify that readings such as charging voltage and charging power appear correctly, keeping in mind these are uint32 registers spanning two addresses.

Things to watch for

Why do charging voltage and charging power show incorrect or very large values?

These registers are uint32 types, each spanning two Modbus registers. Make sure your gateway is configured to read two consecutive registers for these values. An incorrect register width will produce misaligned or nonsensical data.

The charging station falls back to a default state when I restart the gateway. How do I prevent this?

Configure the communication timeout register at address 201 to a value that gives the gateway enough time to reconnect after a restart. A too-short timeout causes the station to assume communication is lost and revert to its fallback behavior.

What is the correct register address for setting available charging power?

The available charging power register is located at address 1599. It is a uint32 value, so it occupies two consecutive registers.

Can I use this template with other Kostad Unity models?

This template is designed and tested for the Kostad Unity 50-120. Other Unity models may use a different register map. Check the Modbus documentation for your specific model before using this template.
