Vestel EVC04

Use cases

• Monitor real-time voltage, current, and power per phase of the Vestel EVC04 on a live dashboard.

Installation

1. 1Connect the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the same local network as the Vestel EVC04 wallbox.
2. 2Ensure Modbus TCP is enabled on the Vestel EVC04 and note its IP address and Modbus port (default 502).
3. 3Check the firmware version of the EVC04; if it is newer than v3.187.0, configure read registers to use function code 4 (Read Input Register 0x04), except the Charging Current register.
4. 4Import the Vestel EVC04 template in the ModbusCloud platform and assign the correct IP address and unit ID.
5. 5Verify data is appearing on the dashboard by checking that voltage, current, and chargepoint state values update correctly.

Things to watch for

I get no response from the EVC04 after a firmware update. What should I check?

Firmware versions after v3.187.0 require read registers to use function code 4 (Read Input Register 0x04). Update the Modbus commands in the template accordingly. The Charging Current register does not need this change.

Can I use Modbus RTU instead of Modbus TCP with this template?

The Vestel EVC04 supports Modbus RTU as well, but not all registers may be available over RTU. Check the Vestel Modbus documentation for RTU-specific register availability.

What happens if the gateway loses communication with the wallbox?

The failsafe current and failsafe timeout registers define the fallback behavior. Configure these values so the charger reduces current or stops charging safely when communication is interrupted.

Which Modbus port and unit ID should I use for the Vestel EVC04?

The default Modbus TCP port is 502. The unit ID depends on the wallbox configuration. Consult the Vestel installation manual or check the device settings menu for the correct unit ID.
