Waterkotte Waterkotte ECO Touch Ai1 Geo Modbus TCP template

Waterkotte ECO Touch Ai1 Geo

Reads temperatures, pressures, and performance data from Waterkotte geothermal heat pumps via Modbus TCP.

This template connects to a Waterkotte ECO Touch Ai1 Geo geothermal heat pump via Modbus TCP. It provides read-only monitoring of 37 registers covering temperatures, pressures, power values, COP, and compressor states. Compatible with Waterkotte models 5005.5, 5006.5, 5008.5, and 5010.5.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.

Use cases

  • Monitor outdoor, source, flow, return, and hot water temperatures on a live cloud dashboard for your customer.
  • Track COP heating and COP cooling over time to verify seasonal heat pump efficiency.
  • Create an alert when source temperature drops below a critical threshold indicating a ground loop issue.
  • Log compressor operating states to detect short-cycling or excessive runtime patterns.
  • Compare electric drive power against heating power to validate system performance after commissioning.
  • Share a read-only dashboard with the building owner showing energy consumption and temperatures.

Installation

  1. Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local network as the Waterkotte ECO Touch Ai1 Geo heat pump.

  2. Verify that Modbus TCP is enabled on the heat pump controller and note the IP address and TCP port (default is 502).

  3. In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device and import the Waterkotte ECO Touch Ai1 Geo template from the template library.

  4. Enter the heat pump IP address and port in the gateway connection settings and confirm communication is established.

  5. Check that all 37 registers return plausible values on the live data view, paying attention to temperature and pressure scaling.

  6. Save the configuration and optionally set up alerts or dashboard widgets for the data points you want to track.

Things to watch for

The gateway cannot reach the heat pump over Modbus TCP. What should I check?

Ensure the gateway and the heat pump are on the same subnet or that routing is configured. Verify Modbus TCP is enabled in the ECO Touch controller settings. Confirm the correct IP address and TCP port (typically 502).

Temperature values appear to be 10x too high or too low. Why?

Temperature registers are int16 values in degrees Celsius, but some firmware versions apply a scale factor of 10 (0.1 degree resolution). Check a known temperature against the raw register value and adjust the scaling in the template if needed.

Can I change setpoints or switch operating modes through this template?

No. All 37 registers in this template are read-only. The Waterkotte Modbus interface does not expose writable registers in this configuration.

Will this template work with other Waterkotte ECO Touch models outside the 5005.5 to 5010.5 range?

It may work with other Ai1 Geo variants using the same controller, but this has not been confirmed. Test by importing the template and verifying that register values are plausible.
