Installation

1. 1Wire the RS-485 A and B terminals of the Carlo Gavazzi EM340 to the corresponding terminals on your ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series), and add a 120 ohm termination resistor if the meter is at the end of the bus.
2. 2On the EM340, configure the Modbus slave address to a unique value (default is 1) and set the baud rate to 19200 with odd parity (8N1 is not used; the default is 19200, 8, 1 stop bit, odd parity).
3. 3In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new Modbus RTU device, enter the slave address matching the meter, and select 19200 baud with odd parity.
4. 4Import the Carlo Gavazzi EM340 template from the ModbusCloud template library and assign it to the device.
5. 5Verify that live readings such as voltage, current, and frequency appear on the dashboard, confirming correct communication.
6. 6If you need to reset energy counters or adjust the demand integration time, use the corresponding write registers exposed by the template.
