Installation

1. 1Wire the MB-TH-9K6-SXX sensor to the RS-485 terminals (A and B) of your ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series), ensuring correct polarity and proper bus termination.
2. 2Set the slave address on the sensor to a unique value between 1 and 255, avoiding conflicts with other devices on the same bus.
3. 3Confirm the serial parameters on the gateway match the sensor: 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit.
4. 4Import the SETECNA EPC MB-TH-9K6-SXX template from the ModbusCloud template library and assign it to the correct gateway port and slave address.
5. 5Verify that actual temperature and relative humidity values appear on the ModbusCloud dashboard and check the readings against a reference measurement.

Things to watch for

The gateway reports communication errors with the MB-TH-9K6-SXX sensor. What should I check?

Verify that the baud rate on the gateway is set to 9600, not 19200 or another value. Also confirm that parity is set to None, data bits to 8, and stop bits to 1. Check RS-485 wiring polarity and bus termination.

Temperature readings seem slightly off compared to a reference thermometer. How can I correct this?

Use the Temperature Calibration Offset register exposed by the template to apply a correction. Write a positive or negative offset value in 0.1°C increments to align the reading with your reference.

Can I connect multiple MB-TH-9K6-SXX sensors to one gateway?

Yes. Each sensor must have a unique Modbus slave address between 1 and 255. Connect all sensors in a daisy-chain topology on the same RS-485 bus and add a separate template instance per sensor in ModbusCloud.

The sensor does not respond after power-up. What could be wrong?

Ensure the sensor is properly powered and seated in the 503 box. Check that the RS-485 A and B lines are not swapped. Allow a few seconds after power-on before polling, as the microprocessor needs a short initialization time.
