SOLARFOCUS Distribution
Controls SOLARFOCUS heat distribution units via Modbus TCP
This template connects SOLARFOCUS heat distribution units equipped with the ecoManager-touch controller via Modbus TCP. It reads flow temperatures, mixing valve positions, circulation pump states, and buffer/hot water storage temperatures. It also allows control of target temperatures, operation modes, and cooling release for two heating circuits.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Monitor flow temperatures and mixing valve positions of two heating circuits on a live cloud dashboard.
- Set target flow temperatures and operation modes remotely to adjust comfort levels without a site visit.
- Create an alert when buffer storage top temperature drops below a defined threshold for early fault detection.
- Log hot water storage temperature over time to verify domestic hot water performance and setpoint compliance.
- Combine this template with SOLARFOCUS heat pump or pellet boiler templates to supervise the full heating system.
- Release or disable cooling mode for individual heating circuits remotely during seasonal transitions.
Installation
Connect the SOLARFOCUS ecoManager-touch controller to your local network via Ethernet and note its IP address.
Wire the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local network, ensuring it can reach the controller IP.
In the ecoManager-touch settings, verify that Modbus TCP communication is enabled and confirm the default TCP port (typically 502).
Import the SOLARFOCUS Distribution template in the ModbusCloud platform and assign the controller IP address and port.
If external room temperature sensors are used, configure registers 32606 and 32656 as writable inputs in the template settings.
When combining with other SOLARFOCUS templates (heat pump, pellet, biomass), import those additional templates for the same gateway and verify there are no register address conflicts.
Things to watch for
Why do I need multiple SOLARFOCUS templates instead of just one?
The Distribution template covers heating circuits, buffer storage, and hot water storage only. Heat generation equipment such as heat pumps, pellet boilers, or biomass boilers each have their own register sets and require a separate dedicated template.
What are the writable room temperature registers (32606, 32656) used for?
These registers allow you to send an external room temperature value to the ecoManager-touch controller. If you have room sensors connected through the gateway rather than directly to the SOLARFOCUS system, write the measured value to these registers so the controller can use it for regulation.
The gateway connects but no data appears on the dashboard. What should I check?
Confirm that Modbus TCP is enabled on the ecoManager-touch and that the IP address and port (usually 502) match the template configuration. Also verify that no firewall or VLAN boundary is blocking traffic between the gateway and the controller.
Can I control cooling release remotely through this template?
Yes. The template includes Release Cooling registers for HC1 and HC2. Writing the appropriate value activates or deactivates cooling mode for each circuit independently.
