Sungrow New Hybrid 2024 SH15-25T Modbus RTU
Monitors Sungrow hybrid inverter data via Modbus RTU over RS-485
This template reads solar and battery data from Sungrow hybrid inverters (SH6 to SH25T series) via Modbus RTU over RS-485. It covers MPPT channel readings, battery charge and discharge state, mains connection status, total DC power, and running state. No write commands are included.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Monitor MPPT channel production and total DC power on a live cloud dashboard for each installation.
- Track battery charge and discharge cycles over time to assess battery health and usage patterns.
- Create an alert when mains connection status changes to detect grid outages or disconnection events.
- Compare solar yield across multiple Sungrow hybrid installations in a single ModbusCloud account.
- Verify correct inverter running state remotely after commissioning or firmware updates.
- Log historical energy data for reporting to end customers or for subsidy documentation.
Installation
Connect the ModbusCloud gateway RS-485 terminals (A and B) to the Sungrow Com2 connector pins A1 (positive) and B1 (negative).
Set the Modbus slave address on the Sungrow inverter to match the address configured in the ModbusCloud template (default is typically 1).
Verify the baud rate on the inverter is set to 9600, matching the template default.
Do not use the Winet S2 dongle for this template, as several registers are unavailable over Modbus TCP with current Sungrow firmware.
Import the Sungrow New Hybrid 2024 SH15-25T template in the ModbusCloud portal and assign it to your gateway.
Confirm data is appearing on the ModbusCloud dashboard by checking MPPT readings and battery state values.
Things to watch for
Why should I not use the Winet S2 dongle with Modbus TCP for this template?
With current Sungrow firmware, several important registers, including MPPT 3 data, battery running state, and total DC power, cannot be read via Modbus TCP through the Winet S2. Use the RS-485 connection on Com2 (A1 and B1) instead.
Some register values like mains connection or total DC power seem incorrect or missing. What is wrong?
These values are located on different registers than commonly expected in Sungrow documentation. The template already maps these adjusted addresses. Make sure you are using the correct template version for 2024 hybrid models.
What baud rate should I configure on the Sungrow inverter?
Set the baud rate to 9600 on the inverter RS-485 settings. This matches the template default. Ensure parity and stop bit settings also match (typically 8N1).
Which Sungrow models are supported by this template?
The template supports the SH6, SH8RT, SH10, SH15, SH20, and SH25 hybrid inverter models. All use the same register map on the Com2 RS-485 interface.
