Agrowtek ADi Dosing Pump
Peristaltic dosing pump with up to six heads for nutrients and pH correction.
The Agrowtek ADi is a peristaltic metering pump with one to six heads that doses nutrients and pH correction into fertigation water in greenhouses and indoor farms. This Modbus RTU template reads the speed, remaining dose time and accumulated run time of each head through the LX2 ModLINK, and lets you start timed doses and set the communication timeout from ModbusCloud.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Show the speed and remaining dose time of every pump head on one ModbusCloud dashboard.
- Track accumulated motor run time per head over 365 days of history to plan tubing and pump head service.
- Start a timed dose from the portal by writing a run time and then a speed to a pump head.
- Log every dose with an email or webhook from a rule on the speed of a head that is not equal to 0.
- Compare dosing activity with pH and EC from a water sensor on the same dashboard.
Installation
Mount the ADi and connect the tubing. Give the pump its own 24 Vdc supply, with 0.5 A per motor if heads run at the same time.
Connect the GrowNET port to an Agrowtek LX2 ModLINK, directly or through an HX8 hub, and wire TX/RX+ and TX/RX- of the LX2 to the RS485 terminals of the ModbusCloud Gateway. Terminate the bus.
Give the pump its own address from 1 to 247 with the AgrowLINK utility, or write it to the address register at broadcast address 254 while it is the only device on the bus.
In ModbusCloud, add a Modbus device with protocol RTU, the address, 19200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit, and import this template.
Check that all speeds read 0 at rest. Before you write speeds, set the timeout longer than the read interval of the Modbus device.
Things to watch for
The pump does not answer through the LX2. What should I check?
Check 19200 baud, no parity, 1 stop bit and the pump address in ModbusCloud; the LX2 may have been set to another speed with the ModLINK utility. Swap TX/RX+ and TX/RX- if nothing comes back, terminate the RS485 bus, and give every GrowNET device behind the LX2 its own address.
The pump stops on its own after a while. Why?
Check Communication Timeout: the ADi turns all pumps off when the master sends nothing for that many seconds. If ModbusCloud reads the pump less often than that, the pumps stop between reads. Set the timeout longer than the read interval, or use Motor Time for doses of a fixed length.
The motor hums but does not turn. What is wrong?
Speeds below 60 % can stall the motor; use 60 to 100 %. With several heads running at once the included supply can drop too far and the pump goes into fault protection until a power cycle. Feed it 0.5 A per motor through the 2.1 mm jack.
How do I run a fixed dose from ModbusCloud?
Write the dose time in seconds to the Motor Time register of that head, then write the speed, for example 100. The pump stops when the time is up and the time register reads 0 again. A negative speed runs the head in reverse. Writing is off per gateway by default; request it for the gateway in the portal.
Can I plug the GrowNET cable into the network port of the Gateway?
No. GrowNET uses RJ45 plugs but it is not Ethernet. Connect the pump to the LX2 ModLINK and wire the LX2 to the RS485 terminals of the ModbusCloud Gateway.
