Agrowtek SXG CO2 Sensor
NDIR CO2 gas sensor for CO2 alarm monitoring up to 40,000 ppm in grow rooms and plant rooms.
The Agrowtek SXG is a fan-aspirated NDIR CO2 gas sensor that watches CO2 levels near the floor of grow rooms, greenhouses and plant rooms for alarm purposes. This Modbus RTU template reads the CO2 concentration and identification, and lets you write the 400 ppm calibration and the device address from ModbusCloud.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Send an alert when CO2 in a room rises above a safe level for staff.
- Show the CO2 level of every grow room next to the climate readings on one dashboard.
- Keep 365 days of CO2 history to check that enrichment stays within limits.
- Spot a stuck sensor when the CO2 reading no longer changes for hours.
Installation
Mount the SXG low on the wall in the room and connect its GrowNET RJ45 port to an Agrowtek LX2 ModLINK.
Wire TX/RX+ and TX/RX- of the LX2 to RS485 A and B of the ModbusCloud Gateway, with termination at the bus ends.
Leave the LX2 at 19200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and give each sensor a unique address.
In ModbusCloud, add a Modbus RTU device with the sensor address and import this template.
Check that CO2 reads about 400 ppm in fresh air and rises when you breathe on the sensor.
Things to watch for
The CO2 value stays at 400 ppm and does not change.
A reading stuck at 400 ppm after calibration points to a faulty CO2 sensor chip. Breathe on the sensor: the value must rise. If it does not respond, replace the sensor before relying on it for alarms.
The sensor does not answer on the RS485 bus.
The SXG speaks Modbus only through an LX2 ModLINK. Check the RJ45 cable, the LX2 power supply, A and B wiring and that the sensor address is unique. Use the reset button on the sensor if it stays offline.
How do I calibrate the sensor from ModbusCloud?
Move the sensor to fresh outdoor air, let it run 20 minutes and then write 400 to CO2 Offset Calibration. Other values are refused. The calibration takes up to 3 minutes. Writing 1 to Clear Calibration restores the factory values.
