Belimo 2-way EPIV Modbus RTU

Use cases

• Monitor real-time volumetric flow and valve position on a live dashboard for each HVAC zone.

• Configure the bus fail position to ensure safe actuator behavior during communication loss.

• Set a maximum flow limit per valve to prevent overconsumption in peak demand periods.

Installation

1. 1Wire the Modbus RTU A and B terminals of the Belimo EPIV actuator to the RS-485 port on the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series), observing correct polarity.
2. 2Set the baud rate on the EPIV actuator to 38400 and assign a unique Modbus slave address, ensuring no address conflicts on the bus.
3. 3Connect a 120 ohm termination resistor at the last device on the RS-485 bus if the cable run exceeds a few meters or multiple devices are daisy-chained.
4. 4In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device connection using Modbus RTU and enter the slave address and baud rate matching the actuator configuration.
5. 5Import the Belimo 2-way EPIV Modbus RTU template from the ModbusCloud template library and assign it to the device connection.
6. 6Verify that live readings for valve position and volumetric flow appear on the dashboard, then configure the desired flow display unit via register 117 if needed.
