Overview
This template enables remote control of Sentiotec Professional Series sauna control units (Pro-B2, Pro-B3, Pro-C2, Pro-C3) via Modbus RTU over RS485. It allows starting and managing sauna heaters and infrared emitters through the ModbusCloud platform.

Installation

Connect the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the RS485 terminal on the Sentiotec Professional Series control unit using a twisted pair cable with proper polarity (A/B).
2Set the gateway serial port baud rate to 57600, matching the fixed baud rate of the Sentiotec controller.
3Configure the Modbus slave address on the Sentiotec control unit according to the manufacturer documentation and ensure it matches the address set in the template.
4Import the Sentiotec Sauna Control template in the ModbusCloud platform and assign it to the connected gateway.
5Verify communication by reading device status registers in the ModbusCloud dashboard and confirm that commands such as heater start are executed correctly.
6Ensure all safety requirements per EN 60335-1 and EN 60335-2-53 are met, including cover test compliance or safety shut-off devices and cabin door interlocks where applicable.
Things to watch for

Communication fails after wiring the RS485 connection. What should I check?
Verify that the baud rate on the gateway is set to 57600. This is higher than the common 9600 or 19200 defaults. Also confirm correct A/B polarity and that a termination resistor is placed at the end of the bus if cable runs are long.

Which Sentiotec models are supported by this template?
The template supports the Professional Series units: Pro-B2, Pro-B3, Pro-C2, and Pro-C3. The D2 model may also be compatible. Consult the Sentiotec RS485 documentation for register details specific to each model.

Are there mandatory safety measures when enabling remote sauna control?
Yes. EN 60335-2-53 requires that remotely started heaters pass the cover test or have a safety shut-off device installed above them. Infrared emitters require a cabin door interlock that disables remote stand-by when the door is opened.

Can I use Modbus TCP instead of RTU for this device?
No. The Sentiotec Professional Series controllers expose an RS485 interface and communicate via Modbus RTU only. Use a ModbusCloud gateway with an RS485 port.
