Loxone Swatten Hybrid-EEG2 Modbus TCP template

Swatten Hybrid-EEG2

Reads grid export power and battery status from a paired hybrid inverter

Template for the Swatten Hybrid-EEG2 dual-inverter setup. It reads grid export power, battery state of charge, and battery power from inverter 2 and shares this data with inverter 1 via serial-number-based pairing over Modbus TCP.

Use cases

  • Monitor grid export power from inverter 2 on a live cloud dashboard to verify feed-in behavior.
  • Track battery state of charge across a dual-inverter Swatten system to assess available storage capacity remotely.
  • Create an alert when battery SOC drops below a defined threshold to notify the end customer or installer.
  • Compare export power and battery power trends over time to optimize self-consumption strategies.
  • Verify that inverter 2 data is correctly shared with inverter 1 after commissioning a new dual-inverter installation.

Installation

  1. Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local network as the Swatten Hybrid-EEG2 inverters and confirm Modbus TCP connectivity on the correct IP address and port.

  2. Ensure both inverters are grouped by serial number in the Solarman platform so that inverter 2 data is shared with inverter 1.

  3. Verify that Modbus TCP is enabled in the inverter settings and note the configured slave address for inverter 2.

  4. Import the Swatten Hybrid-EEG2 template from the ModbusCloud template library into your project.

  5. Assign the correct IP address and Modbus unit ID in the ModbusCloud gateway configuration to match inverter 2.

  6. Confirm that export power (int32), battery power (int16), and battery SOC (uint16) readings appear correctly on the ModbusCloud dashboard.

Things to watch for

Why does the export power reading show an unexpected value or zero?

Export power uses an int32 register spanning two consecutive addresses. Verify that your gateway is reading both registers and that the byte order matches the inverter's configuration. A mismatch in word order (big-endian vs. little-endian) can produce incorrect values.

Do both inverters need to be on the same network for this template to work?

Yes. Both inverters must be reachable on the local network and grouped by serial number in the Solarman environment. The Modbus gateway reads from inverter 2 directly via Modbus TCP, so network connectivity to that unit is required.

Can I write control commands to inverter 2 using this template?

No. This template is read-only. It monitors export power, battery SOC, and battery power. There are no writable registers included.

What baud rate or TCP port should I use?

This template uses Modbus TCP, so baud rate does not apply. The default TCP port is typically 502, but check the inverter's network settings to confirm the correct port number.
