Overview
The Sermatec SMT-5K-TL-LV is a single-phase hybrid inverter for residential and small-commercial solar-plus-storage systems, supporting PV input, battery, grid, and load on a four-port architecture. This ModbusCloud template reads the two PV power channels, power_a and power_b, corresponding to the inverter's dual MPPT inputs, over Modbus TCP via the inverter's built-in TCP bridge. Connecting these two registers in the ModbusCloud portal gives installers a live view of per-string PV production to spot imbalances and validate system output.
Use cases
- Monitor PV string power on both MPPT inputs to detect partial shading or soiling on individual strings.
- Compare power_a against power_b over a full day to identify a consistently underperforming string.
- Track total PV production by summing both channels and alert when output drops below a seasonal baseline.
- Verify PV input after a maintenance visit by confirming both channels return expected watt readings.
- Report daily PV generation per MPPT channel to building owners for performance accountability.
