The ModbusCloud Gateway with the RS485 terminal and the antenna connectors

Eastron is a Chinese manufacturer of DIN-rail energy meters used throughout solar inverter installations, EV charging infrastructure, and commercial sub-metering. The 6 Eastron Modbus RTU templates in our library cover the SDM120M single-phase compact meter, the SDM230 single-phase multifunctional, the full SDM630 three-phase series (V1, V2, V3), the SDM72D-M three-phase, and the SMART X96-5J panel-mount multifunction power meter.

With ModbusCloud and these Eastron templates you read float32 values for per-phase voltage, current, active/reactive/apparent power, active and reactive energy import/export, power factor, frequency, THD, and demand. The SDM630 family exposes 15 read-only registers covering both per-phase and total measurements; the SMART X96-5J adds single-phase and three-phase operation modes with separate counters for imported and exported active energy.

All 6 Eastron templates are free to browse. Import one into your ModbusCloud portal to read live energy data within minutes, no need to cross-reference Eastron's register map with a meter manual.

What you can read out

  • Per-phase voltage, current and power
  • Imported and exported active energy
  • Power factor and frequency
  • THD per phase (SMART X96-5J)
  • Demand (min, max, average)

Typical installations

  • Sub-metering downstream of solar inverters for PV monitoring
  • Three-phase main distribution in small commercial installs
  • EV charging station energy logging
