E+E Elektronik EE671 - HVAC Miniature Air Flow Probe

Installation

1. 1Wire the EE671 probe to the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) using a shielded RS-485 cable, connecting A, B, and GND terminals.
2. 2Set the EE671 Modbus slave address using the configuration method described in the device manual, and note the address for gateway setup.
3. 3Configure the ModbusCloud gateway serial port to 9600 baud, odd parity, and 1 stop bit to match the EE671 default communication settings.
4. 4Import the E+E Elektronik EE671 template from the ModbusCloud template library and assign it to the correct gateway port and slave address.
5. 5Verify that airflow (m/s) and temperature (°C) values appear on the ModbusCloud dashboard, and confirm readings match expected conditions in the duct.

Things to watch for

I see zero or null values for airflow and temperature. What should I check?

Confirm the RS-485 wiring polarity (A and B) is correct and that the slave address configured on the gateway matches the address set on the EE671. Also verify baud rate is 9600 and parity is set to odd.

The readings look incorrect or extremely large. Why?

The EE671 uses float32 (IEEE 754) encoding across two consecutive registers. Check that the byte order and word order settings on the gateway match the device. Swapping the register order typically resolves this.

Can I connect multiple EE671 probes on one RS-485 bus?

Yes. Each probe must have a unique Modbus slave address. Assign different addresses via the EE671 configuration interface and add a separate template instance per device in ModbusCloud.

Does the EE671 require a specific firmware version for Modbus communication?

All EE671 variants with the Modbus RTU output option support the registers used in this template. Consult the E+E Elektronik datasheet to confirm your model includes the Modbus interface.
