A power supply and a DIN rail kit are in the box only if you order them with the gateway. How to order them is described in Ordering, account and invoices. The order in which you connect everything is described in Connect the gateway.
Choose a location
The gateway works from -40 to 75 °C and at a humidity of 10 to 90%. Condensation must not form on the gateway. The enclosure is IP30, so it does not protect against water. Place the gateway in a dry room or in a cabinet that protects it from water.
Metal blocks the 4G signal. If the gateway is in a metal cabinet, place the antenna outside the cabinet. How the gateway uses 4G is described in 4G and the backup SIM.
The gateway measures 83 x 25 x 83 mm. The RS485 terminal and the antenna connections are on one side, the power terminal and the LAN and WAN ports on the other. Leave room on both sides for the cables and the antenna. All connections are listed in Connections and specifications.
Mount the gateway on a DIN rail
Mount the gateway on a 35 mm DIN rail with the DIN rail kit. The gateway has no DIN rail clip of its own, so it does not fit on the rail without the kit. You need one kit per gateway.
Choose a power supply
The gateway works on 9 to 57 V DC. A 12 or 24 V DC supply in the cabinet falls within that range. The power supply you can order with the gateway delivers 9 V DC and plugs into a wall socket.
The gateway typically uses less than 2 W and at most 3.5 W. At 24 V DC, expect at most 0.15 A, and at 12 V DC at most 0.3 A.
The power input is protected against reversed polarity. If you swap plus and minus, the gateway is not damaged.
Connect the power supply
The gateway has no on/off switch. It starts as soon as the power terminal receives voltage.
Switch off the power
Switch off the power supply before you connect the wires.
Connect plus and minus
Connect the plus and the minus of the power supply to the green two-pole power terminal marked POWER.
Switch on the power
Switch on the power supply. The gateway starts up.
If the gateway is linked in the portal, its status changes from Pending to Online as soon as the portal receives its first message. If it stays on Pending, see Gateway does not come online. If you have not linked the gateway yet, add it as described in Add a gateway.
