The portal is at portal.modbuscloud.com. Every account belongs to an organisation, the environment of your company with its gateways, customers and team members. The first person from your company creates the organisation and becomes the owner. Colleagues join that organisation afterwards.
What you need
- The confirmation email of your order, if you ordered the portal for your company.
- A join code or the email address of the owner, if you join the organisation of a colleague.
- The 10-digit serial number of the gateway, if you want to link it straight away.
Sign in after your order
After payment in the webshop, an account is waiting for the email address of the order. At the top of the confirmation email you see Your account is ready.
Open the link
In the confirmation email, click Sign in to the portal. A page opens on modbuscloud.com with a button Log in to the portal.
Confirm the sign-in
On that page, click Log in to the portal. The portal opens and you are signed in. A new account first lands on How would you like to start?
Mail scanners open links in advance. The second click prevents such a scanner from using up your sign-in link. If the link has expired or was already used, the page says This link no longer works. Then set a password with Forgot password? on the sign-in screen of the portal, as described in Signing in does not work.
An account that the webshop creates has no password yet. Set one under Settings > Security as soon as your organisation exists. The steps are in Secure your sign-in and account.
The order and the invoice are then in the portal under Settings > Orders. The statuses an order goes through are described in Ordering, account and invoices.
Create an account
If you did not place the order yourself, you create an account yourself. If you received an invitation email, open the link in it and create your account with Create account & accept. You then join the organisation straight away, with the role from the invitation. Without an invitation, create the account like this.
Open registration
On the sign-in screen of the portal, under Don't have an account?, click Sign up.
Enter your name
In Name, enter your name.
Enter your email address
In Email address, enter your email address.
Choose a password
In Password, enter a password. The password needs at least 8 characters, a lowercase letter, a capital letter, a digit and a symbol.
Agree to the terms
Select the checkbox for the Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Agreement.
Create the account
Click Create account. The portal emails you a code and shows Verify your account.
Enter the code
Enter the 6-digit code from the email. The portal verifies your account and shows How would you like to start?
Choose how to start
If your account does not belong to an organisation, the portal shows the screen How would you like to start? after you sign in, with three choices.
| Choice | For whom | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| I'm starting a new company | The first person from your company, usually whoever placed the order | You create an organisation and become the owner |
| I have a join code | A colleague with a code of 6 characters | You join with the role that belongs to the code |
| I'm looking for my colleague's account | A colleague without a code | The owner receives an access request by email |
Create the organisation
After these steps your organisation exists and you are the owner.
Choose a new company
Choose I'm starting a new company.
Enter the company name
In Company name, enter the name of your company, at least 2 characters long.
Agree to the terms
Select the checkbox for the Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Agreement. By doing so, you also confirm that you are authorised to accept on behalf of your organisation.
Create the organisation
Click Create organization. The welcome screen Welcome to ModbusCloud appears.
You change the name and the other company details later under Settings > Organization. The steps are in Set up your organisation and profile.
Link your first gateway
In the welcome screen you link your first gateway to the organisation. Only an owner sees it, and it returns until you finish or close it. The gateway does not have to be connected yet. It then shows Pending until its first message arrives.
Start the welcome screen
In Welcome to ModbusCloud, click Get started.
Enter the serial number
In Serial number, enter the 10-digit serial number. Two extra fields appear below it.
Enter the customer
If you want to link the gateway to a customer, enter the name of the customer in Customer name (optional). The portal creates that customer.
Enter the location
If you want to record the location, enter it in Location (optional), for example Boiler room ground floor. That text becomes the name of the gateway.
Link the gateway
Click Link. The window shows You're all set.
Finish the welcome screen
Click Go to dashboard. The welcome screen does not return afterwards.
Without a location, the gateway gets the customer name as its name, and without both it gets the serial number. The gateway gets the same default alerts as with Add gateway. Then open Gateways and check that it is in the list.
If you do not have the serial number yet, close the welcome screen with the cross at the top right. It does not return then either. You add the gateway later under Gateways, as described in Add a gateway.
Join with a join code
An owner or admin creates the code under Settings > Team members, as described in Create a join code. The code determines your role.
Choose the join code
Choose I have a join code.
Enter the code
In Join code, enter the 6 characters. Lowercase letters turn into capitals automatically.
Use the code
Click Join. The portal reports You've been added to the organization. and opens the Overview.
A code works once and is valid for 30 days. If the portal reports Deze code is al gebruikt. (code already used) or Deze code is verlopen. (code expired), ask your colleague for a new code.
Ask a colleague for access
Without a code, you ask the owner of the organisation for access. The request only arrives if you enter the email address of an owner.
Choose the access request
Choose I'm looking for my colleague's account.
Enter the address
In Your colleague's email, enter the email address of the owner.
Send the request
Click Send request. The portal shows Request sent.
The owner receives an email with a button per role and a button to decline. The owner or an admin can also handle the request under Settings > Team members, as described in Handle an access request. You receive an email as soon as the request is approved or declined. A request expires after 7 days.
After approval, open the portal again and you are in the organisation with the chosen role. If the address does not belong to an owner, no email is sent and you receive no message either. In that case, ask your colleague for a join code. With Choose another option you return to the three choices.
